While I am still trying to figure out what I am looking at here, my eye gets caught by it again and again while I scroll through my ‘reader’. I somehow like it … and thought I’d just let you know. Cheers!
I like the idea of being in your reader glad you like the pic. It’s a chocolate bar wrapper – Endangered Species brand.
Your post got my curiosity … and provoked an urgent craving for chocolate (of which i have none)! It led me to finding UICN’s 2012 Red list – Nearly 2000 species added, 4 species extinct, 2 rediscovered. The IUCN assessed a total of 63,837 species which revealed 19,817 are threatened with extinction. With 3,947 described as “critically endangered” and 5,766 as “endangered,” while more than 10,000 species are listed as “vulnerable. At threat are 41 per cent of amphibian species, 33 per cent of reef-building corals, 25 per cent of mammals, 13% of birds, and 30% of conifers. Red List has listed 132 species of plants and animals as Critically Endangered from India. Very sobering…
thank you for introducing me to the UICN Red List! I’ve worked on the recovery of two endangered species, one, the bald eagle, has gratefully returned to populate the rivers and streams here.
The bald eagle is a magnificent bird, must be very gratifying to see them back again.
I like your take on this.
thank you!
